Award winning cinematographer Marcus Smith has filmed documentaries for PBS, HBO, Showtime, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel and A&E. He has filmed several independent feature films including The Tuskegee Airmen, Building the Dream: the MLK Memorial, and Full Moon Lightnin', along with scores of music videos and hundreds of projects for clients including the NAACP, the National Football League, Reebok, The American Red Cross, The United Way and Howard University.
Marcus brings a soulful vision and melody to film projects, which is rooted in his deep faith in God, love of country, and music. He loves bringing undertold stories to life on screen, and mentoring creative and technical team members in the art of filmmaking.
Marcus currently works in collaboration with Bright Guys Film & Video in Shepherdstown, WV, and with Rubicon Productions, a non-profit film and video company in Baltimore that is dedicated to the production of educational and informative films and video for television broadcast and instructional use.
Marcus received an Emmy Award for his work on Fathers and Sons for HBO. He earned a second Emmy for his work on a tribute to Mohammad Ali.
Marcus received the prestigious Sony Innovator Award for his work on Fathers and Sons for HBO.
